SMYTC Holiday Nail Art Challenge! Day 1: Red & Green!

Hi everyone!

I am super psyched about today's post! I am starting my first ever REAL nail art challenge with a wonderful group of girls from "Show Me Your Top Coats"! There is even an awesome blog for it which you should totally go check out right now: www.showmeyourtopcoats.com :)

Here is some of the key points from the SMYTC blog:

The rules: It's simple. Every other day we'll have a theme and you do a manicure based on that theme. You can use stamping, paints, stickers, or any other means of art to create your mani. The first post will go up on December 2nd and will run until the 24th. You can do your manis ahead of time and post them early if need be. You have until 3pm the second day to get your post up. Have fun and be creative!

Please feel free to join in on the fun!

So today's challenge is Red & Green. Simple enough right?  Well I couldn't really come up with anything. So I started by picking a base of my favourite ATM red: OPI Danke Shiny Red from the Fall '11 Germany collection. It is a great one coat red shimmer. It is a beautiful color. Perfect for the holidays!

So then I needed some green. I decided to be sort of simple of the first day and do a green glitter gradient using Lynnderella's Funny Money & Crows Toes Jingle Balls (what an awesome name!). Funny Money is a mish mash of darker green glitters with a splash of some other random colors & Jingle Balls is primarily a medium green glitter with gold bars and even some holo gold stars! I managed to get a star on each finger and I moved them around to be in the same place on each nail :)

& There you have it! My first day of the challenge is complete! I hoped you liked my manicure!
Thanks for reading and don't forget to check out the awesome posts from the other great and talented ladies from Show Me Your Topcoats!

HITS HK Melon gets glitter tips with Crows Toes Thing!

Hey polish people!

I decided to wear HITS HK Melon as a full mani but I thought it needed a little pizzaz. I added glitter tips in Crows Toes Thing and I really like how it turned out.

What do you think?

IM BACK! An explanation and a Crows Toes Cheshire Mani!

Hey polish people!

So sorry for my 2 week long hiatus. I got called away to work unexpectedly for 2 weeks and I was without a reliable internet connection in northern Canada. I was happy to get those 2 weeks since the season of my job is coming to an end so this was a pleasant last minute surprise! I love working, but I did miss my little blog :)

To make up for it, here is my favourite Crows Toes polish, Cheshire :) My most favourite purple glitter. I thik the best part of it is the splattering of gold sparkly hexes and the odd big matte purple hexes. There is also some holo little bits in there. It sparkles like crazy, I love it!

This is two coats over Zoya Suri. The formula on Cheshire is thick but not unmanageable, it may need some thinner soon. I am really happy with how it looks on, though :)

These pictures were taken before I left for work.. unfortunately, work DESTROYED my nails so you'll have to put up with seeing my nubbins for a couple of weeks :(

Either way though, I am glad to be back :)

Crows Toes Wonder Woman Swatch!

Hi everyone!

Sorry for my lack of posting. I am working insane hours and the internet is just not very good here! :(

Here is a mani I did when I was home with Crows Toes Wonder Woman! I layered one coat over Joe Fresh Cobalt (blue) and OPI Big Apple Red. I had heard that many of the Crows Toes Wonder Woman's going around are "dry" etc etc. My bottle was definitely thick and dense with glitter but not dry or unusable or anything like that. I might add some thinner to it next time around. It was a very hungry glitter, that is for sure! A good topcoat and some gelous is definitely needed! I love the glitter combo in it though. Blue, red and yellow hex glitters in different sizes! It REALLY does remind me of Wonder Woman's costume!

Here are some pictures!

I got my bottle from Llarowe! Crows Toes is also available at Overall Beauty!

Crows Toes Thing Swatch!

Herrrroh!

Today I am sporting a total glitter bomb. This is Crows Toes Thing! Inspired by the Adams Family.. Thing is the "hand" in the family! Haha As a kid he kind of scared me but as an adult I can appreciate his charm! There are two other glitters from Crows Toes inspired by the Adams Family and they are Morticia and Gomez! I tried out my Morticia the other day but I found that my bottle is VERY purple (it is supposed to be red) but then I came accross this post: http://thepolishedcrow.blogspot.ca/2012/07/a-naked-morticia-battle-of-batch.html on Crows Toes blog and have since contacted Leah Anne for a replacement bottle. She is on vacay right now so I will have to wait until she gets back to get a new bottle! No biggie. I love the way Lauri from Crows Toes handled the situation, totally professional yet cool at the same time. I feel like I would really like her in real life!

Anyway, on to the polish! SO SO many glitters in this one, lots of golden/bronzey ones but I especially love the kelly green and bright orange ones. Formula was thick, it was totally packed with glitter but not totally unmanageable. Someday it may require some thinner.

In this photo some nails have one coat, and some have two. I layered this bad boy over Essie Penny Talk.

I loved this combination on. Something about how the background of Penny Talked looked neutral and chrome-y while Thing totally stole the show with its awesomeness! I did need a coat of Gelous and a thick coat of SV to smooth it all out though. It was a pretty bumpy/hungry glitter. It is available at both Overall Beauty and Llarowe! I recommend both sites highly.

Have a nice day :)

Crows Toes Cheshire! Gradient Tips! & An Introduction to my nubbins..

Hi People :)

First.... I have major nubbins and I am so sad about it. Don't get me wrong, I love short nails! But these are short, weak, peeling, broken, and unevenly shaped nubbins. Some are so short they are painful :( That is what working with your hands in water/chemicals for 5 weeks will do to you. I am trying out some products and hopefully I will see some improvement soon. Until then, I'm sorry about my not-so-nice-nails & cuticles! I won't let it stop me from wearing awesome polishes though!

Today I am showing you a manicure I really liked! This is Crows Toes Cheshire done in a gradient on the tips overtop of Borghese Incanto Purple! I LOVE Cheshire. Its a mix of purple glitters in all different sizes and shapes including some random LARGE matte hexes and also some tiny blue glitters which make it look really cool. My favourite part though might be the splash of golden yellow hexes in the mix. It is super awesome. Plus I love the name and the colours represent it so well :) I really do love purple. Great polish!

Application was pretty good for a glitter! It is not as thick as some of my other Crows Toes polishes and went on pretty easily for a gradient :)

& here is Borghese Incanto Purple on its own! It is sort of a pink toned mauvey purple and this is three coats. It was kind of sheer but dried pretty quickly. Nothing to write home about but pretty none-the-less.

I definitely recommend Crows Toes Cheshire! Crows Toes are now being stocked HERE on Llarowe and I highly recommend stopping by her facebook page for updates on restocks!
