Erica's Nails & More February Nail Art Challenge! Day 2: Half Moon Nails!

Happy Monday!

Today is Day 2 of Erica's Nails & More February Nail Art Challenge! The theme today is half moon nails. I love funky half moon nail manicures. I also love that they are easy to do with the paper reinforcements. They are cheap and they make the mani look neat and clean with very little effort!

This is what I came up with!

I started with a coat of Layla Titanium Sky. A light blue true chrome polish. It is my untried! I love Layla chromes and this one is no exception. Although they do show all imperfections, they really do have a mirror-like and brushstroke free finish. I'm glad I gave Titanium Sky some love. Then I stuck on my paper reinforcers and used Zoya Song (my all-time favourite blue right now). I love blue, and I love the way this mani turned out!

Then I went a little overboard. I thought these colours were perfect to try and make "Rainbow Fish" nails. I stamped with Titanium Sky and Bundle Monster plate 209 to make the "scales". I added rainbow "dots" with Zoya Megan, Suri, Zuza, Blaze, & Layla Mercury Twilight. I added a few pieces of glitter too.

I think my rainbow fish nails need a bit of improvement but I quite like the idea behind it! I just need a bit more practice with my dotting.

I hope you enjoyed my Day 2 nails and don't forget to check out the other awesome nailart from the challenge!

Candeo Colors Melonball :)

Hi ya'll!

Today I am wearing Candeo Colour's Melonball. I have been searching and searching all summer for a Melonball type of polish, and I finally get a hold of one.. after summer is over. Haha But I don't care, I am wearing this year round because it is VERY pretty :)

I really like the glitter mix in this polish. I'll let the picture do the talking but I will say the tiny circular glitters are awesome.. and so are the red hexes.

I layered Melonball over Zoya Traci, and I think it was a very good match. I love the way it looks. Formula wise, it was thick, but the glitter spread well. The shiny pink glitters did start to curl on me though, I needed a coat of Gelous and two coats of SV to make them not stick out. I feel that is important to mention.

Melonball is exclusive to llarowe and you can find it at www.shop.llarowe.com.

*Just a side note, my bottle came kind of not full. Like pretty much full.. but not all the way. Kinda weird. Not used at all, the neck was completely clean.. I wonder if it was to avoid explosion during the summer months?

Zoya Cho Swatch!

Hello!

Today I am showing off Zoya Cho. A yellow toned neutral with a pearly finish that didn't really translate into my pictures.. but its obvious in person. I am still on the search for my perfect nude/neutral and and this one is a contender. Most nudes makes me look red... being too brown toned or cool toned for my pale pale pinky skin (Think Color Club Nomadic in Nude or China Glaze Fast Track). This one is less brown and looks much much better with my skin. PLUS I love the pearl finish. Its not brushstroke-y and I find it adds something special and unique to the nude. Less boring. I like it a lot but I think I still want to try a pink-toned neutral before I deem this one my favourite... its just a LITTLE too light for me maybe.

What do you think of Cho? I think I will be choosing this nude when I need a palate cleanser :)

Zoya Tracie Swatch!

Hi everyone!

Welcome to another instalment of "Caitlin-Can't-Resist-A-Green-Polish-Even-If-Doesn't-Look-Good-On-Her". Zoya Traci is an awesome cool toned pistachio light green with a pearl finish. Brighter than Essie Navigate her.. but in a different way. Its kind of like the colour of grass in the fall when its kind of dying after the first frost. But in a nice way. It actually would have made an awesome fall or spring polish instead of summer. It gives me the lobster hands but I don't care. I like it. I used three coats for these pictures but two gave good coverage :)

See. Lobster hands. OH WELL DON'T CARE. Going to wear it anyway :) I love green!

NOTD Funky French! Fail Art.

Hi!

Quick break from work to post some fail art! I tried to do a "funky french" manicure and it just went from bad to worse.
I started with Zoya Cho (which I really like), and then added the tips in Color Club Perfect Molten (I really like this one too!). Then with a black striper I did those lines. However much I like those two polishes.... it does not look good. Haha This mani didn't last too long! Should have just slapped some glitter on Cho and called it a day, but of course I had to muck it up :P

I thought adding rhinestones would fix it..... just added insult to injury LOL :P

Zoya Ali Swatch :)

Hi!

Today I am showing you Zoya Ali.. it came out a long time ago but it is a great summer colour! A bright neon pink! It dries slightly darker than bottle colour but not as much as my photo shows! The formula was a little but sheer but built up nicely at three coats and was easy to apply. It dries to a satin finish and this picture is without top coat! I really like this polish :)

Have a nice day :)

NOTD Summertime Half-moon Manicure !

Hai hai hai! I'm in a great mood today! Maybe its the sun!! I love when the days start to get longer and the grass starts to get greener and the air smells sweet :) Kids start playing outside, and I can wear sunglasses and roll down the windows in the car :) It is a great feeling.

To go along with my fabulous mood, I needed a fabulous manicure. Something fun, something summery. I chose a half moon manicure that I did using paper re-inforcements that I picked up at Staples. It is something like 5 dollars for 200 of them. I already had on China Glaze Flip Flop Fantasy (one of my favourite neon pinks), and Zoya Zuza, a somewhat opaque turquoise foil.

This last picture shows the manicure off well, but sorry about my wonky coloured fingers. I have very poor circulation.

I think it is a super cute colour combo for summer. Its bright and funky and I hope you like it as much as I do!

Zoya Zuza - Swatch

Herrrrroh!

Here is the only polish I have from the Zoya Summer Beach\Surf collections. It's the one that is getting the most attention: Zuza. What a sassy name. Zoya doesn't ship to Canada so it is more tricky for me to get a hold of. Nail Polish Canada sells Zoya for $8.75 and I've had really good experiences shopping with them. They also have been getting their collections in faster than they used to, which I am happy about.

***Side note: Every time I email\tweet\FB Zoya about whether they have future plans to ship to Canada I get zero response. Absolutely nothing. Zip. Zilch. Nada. Not even a "No plans as of yet" or anything. Even if the answer is no I would still like to be aware, 'tis why I asked! I gave up on asking quite a while ago now. I wish they'd respond to my legitimate question as fast as they respond to their Facebook page about what they did on the weekend. Ok, end rant and here are some pictures of Zuza!

Zoya describes Zuza as "Deep, saturated, oceanic turquoise with gold and silver metallic shimmer and a foil-like finish. A beachy, colorful, foil-like shade with the perfect balance between blue and green." and I think it is pretty bang on.

For me, it definitely applied like a foil, and not a shimmer. Mine was slightly chunky but with a second coat it was perfect. It looks to my eyes to have much more silver than gold shimmer but it gives it a glowy shimmery shine and tons of depth. It really is a great balance between blue and green, I wouldn't be able to choose whether it is a blued-green or a greened-blue. I'm going to go with Goldilocks here and say it's just right.

I think Zuza is unique and perfect for the season, and if the rest of the collection looks anything like this on the nail, I'll have to make another purchase! Im keeping my eyes on Kimber and Carley!
