New Essence Color and Go! Date in the Moonlight & Gorgeous Bling Bling!

In case you didn't know, Essence has revamped their Color & Go line! The bottles have a new rounded shape and are bigger! They old bottles were 5ml, and the new ones are 8ml (for comparison, an OPI bottle is 15ml & a HITS bottle is 7ml). They have kept some of their old staple colours, but also added some new ones! Today I am showing you two of their new colours, Date in the Moonlight & Gorgeous Bling Bling!

Here is a photo of the new bottles :)

 First up is Date in the Moonlight. Its a dark grey-ed blue base with bright blue shimmer. The shimmer is obvious on the nail, not at all hidden. I like it quite a bit. Applied wonderfully, this is two coats and no topcoat. Look how shiny it dries!

The second colour is Gorgeous Bling Bling! Its a pretty unique colour, at first I thought it was a little dated.. but when I got it on it looked perfect for the fall season. It looks like a burnt orange or a lighter version of terracotta. Reminds me of bricks almost. There is a golden chunky flake-like glass fleck shimmer that is super pretty too. Here I am wearing 2 coats and no topcoat. It dried super shiny too. 

These formulas are top notch, like I expect for essence. I always like their polishes and I am impressed with the new colours they've added and of course, the bigger bottles :) What do you think of the revamped Color & Go line?!

Joe Fresh Fluo Blue VS Essence Lets Get Lost! Comparison Post!

Comparison post day today :) This is Joe Fresh Fluo Blue VS Essence Let's Get Lost! Both are gorgeous vibrant blues leaning towards the aqua/turquoise end of the blue spectrum.

I'll let you guess which is which!

Index & Middle: Essence Lets Get Lost
Middle & Pinky: Joe Fresh Fluo Blue

Verdict: Not Dupes. Essence is just SLIGHTLY darker and just SLIGHTLY muted compared to the Joe Fresh. However when worn on its own it still appears bright and vibrant. Both formulas are awesome and its possible to get away with just one coat of both! Joe Fresh retails for 3/10 dollars and the Essence for 1.50.. Both bottles are on the smaller side with the Joe Fresh being a little bit bigger than the Essence.

I don't think you need both but you definitely need at least one! This colour is awesome and the great formula and price makes it EXTRA awesome :)

OPI Not Like the Movies vs Essence Where is the Party? - Purple/Green Duochrome Comparison!

Today I have got a comparison for you! There are a couple of green/purple duochromes out there in polish world but today I am comparing the two that I own :P This is OPI Not Like the Movies (From the Katy Perry collection) and Essence Where is the party? I love the name of the Essence polish. In the town where I grew up it was customary on a Friday or Saturday night to say "wheres the party at, biiiiiiii" (Don't worry, I never said it... just heard it very often hehehe).

Anyway! Heres the pictures and I'll let you see if you can guess. I'll point out some stuff at the end of the post. The first two pictures are in the shade, and the last two pictures are in the sunshine.

OPI Not Like The Movies is on my index and ring finger. Essence Where is the party? is on my middle and pinky!

Differences: They are both green/purple duochromes but they are quite different on the nail. In the pictures in the shade you can see that both have quite a strong duochrome, with the green in Essence leaning more olive, and the green in the OPI learning more gun-metal. In the sun, they look quite different. The purple of the Essence is more jewel toned while the OPI is more greyed out. The overall finish of the Essence polish is a very fine shimmer, while the OPI has a fine shimmer as well as some very small glitters/chunky shimmer thrown into the mix. It adds lots of sparkle in the sun.

Application/Formula: The OPI was thin/watery and somewhat sheer. It needed three coats for opacity. Essence only needed two coats. Careful application was needed with both to avoid major brushstrokes as the fine shimmer made the polish seem somewhat frosty if you were not careful. These pictures were taken without topcoat so it is visable here. I did eventually add some topcoat, and it fixed most of the major brushstroke issues for me.

Price/Availability: I bought this OPI at a Regis Salon for 10 dollars earlier this year, but it is a discontinued polish. It is a full sized at .5oz/15ml. The Essence is available now in Canada at Shoppers Drug Mart as a part of the core "color & go" polish line for $1.49 for .16oz. A great deal for a smaller almost mini bottle.

Essence Black Is Back - Swatch

Just a quickie today. Another Essence polish baby! This is Essence Black Is Back!
Not too much to say.. its a great black polish. The formula was great & it needed two coats to be completely opaque. Its definitely an awesome staple to have for only $1.49! Way better than forking out 10 dollars for a new OPI Black Onyx.

It dried quick and glossy and wore well. I wish it was called Back In Black like the ACDC song, that would have been badass.

Pretty and Polished Boy Crazy - Swatch Take Two

Pretty and Polished Boy Crazy is a polish I've already featured on the blog, but I kind of wanted to give it a different look when i wore it this time. I put it over Essence Walk On Air (what I wore yesterday), a darker blue than last time to try and make the colours of the glitter pop more. I like it, I like it a lot.

Once again, this polish is a little tricky to apply, I'm not sure if its because I have a mini bottle or what. The pink diamonds and shards come out of the sheer blue jelly base easily, but to get at the heavier hearts and hexes I needed to turn it upside down for a while and then fish them out with the brush (actually I used a toothpick to get some of them too). Then I placed them on the nail where there was some room!

I like the combo and the application was definitely worth the result. It is a super unique polish and blue hearts?? Me likey.

Essence Walk On Air - Swatch

Today I am feeling a little blue so I thought I would wear some blue on my nails. Also, I love the colour blue so it cheers me up too! This is Essence Walk On Air! I really can't stop gushing about Essence nail polish, it is only $1.49!! The bottles are smaller at 5ml (standard bottle size is 15ml) but they have an awesome formula and great colour range! You can get them now in Canada at Shoppers Drug Mart :)

Anyway, back on topic. Walk on Air is a dark blue. I can't call it navy, and I can't call it cobalt. It falls somewhere in the middle of the two. This is two coats. The first coat went on a little bit streaky but the second made everything all better and smooth. It dried quick and glossy.

Ouu, I love blues. It isnt terribly unique, but its an excellent staple to have in any collection and for $1.49 it is a total steal!

Essence Choose Me - Swatch

Helllooooo! 

Here is another Essence polish I picked up recently called Choose Me! Its a super pretty greened-blue almost teal jelly base with an intense glassfleck shimmer at first just seems gold in the bottle but on the nail its also seafoam green, and blue too. Its really gorgeous, especially in the sunshine. This is three thin coats and topcoat :)

Yay Essence! Another winner for the books :)

Essence Break Through - Swatch

Essence is in Canada!!!!! I always wanted to try this originally German brand but obviously in Canada it was a little tricky. Now Essence Cosmetics are available at Shoppers Drug Mart's all over Canada :) I was away for work and when I came back it was a GREAT surprise to see the display full of cute awesome products all for under five dollars!

The nail polishes retail for 1.49 for 5ml/.16 lf oz... AKA the best price ever.

I'm also SUPER impressed with the brand so far.. fast drying, really pigmented, good core colour selection and at a price that cannot be beat.

Today I am sporting Essence Break Through, a gorgeous vibrant bright purple!

My pictures aren't the most colour accurate. My camera has a really hard time with purples.. its actually a little more magenta in real life but it really is vivid and gorgeous! Great formula, opaque in two coats and quick drying to a glossy finish!
