Nerd Lacquer The Quantum Bluniverse Swatch

Greetings fellow polish lovers!

Today I've got a full mani I wore when I got my Nerd Lacquer order last week. I've almost completed my "Library" of Nerd Lacquers. My polish budget isn't what it used to be though, so I am going to start having to be more choosey during restocks! Shipping prices are killin' me!

Anyway this is The Quantum Bluniverse. *Sigh* I have been lemming it for awhile now. It did not let me down. Its stunning. There is just something about that blue mixed with richer blue glitters, sprinkled with yellow gold and then the whole thing just GLOWS with golden shimmer. Its perfect! I've tried to fill the void I had in my life with other blue/golds but TBH they just don't cut the cake like this one does!

This description comes directly from Amanda at Nerd Lacquer "THE QUANTUM BLUNIVERSE is a deep cobalt with golden shimmer plus royal blue and gold glitter. It's young, it's hip, it's extremely clever, and man is it foxy. BRIAN COX, YOU GUYS. Omg."

Yeah she is hilarious and her descriptions always are amazing. Lovin' this one.

Nerd Lacquer Cold and Calculating

Hello!

Sorry for the lack of posting lately. Life has been getting in the way! 

Just a quick swatch for today, this is Nerd Lacquer Cold and Calculating. Star Trek, purple, and glitter all rolled together in a beautiful polish. Opaque in two coats and smooth after one coat of SV. Now that is a hassle free glitter polish if you ask me! This bottle is over a year old now and it is still going strong :)

Amanda from NL is back

Hey polish people!

Those of you who know me know my favourite and most coveted bottles of polish were made by the very talented Amanda from NL. I have 14 bottles of her polish, and I love each and every one of them. Then as most of you probably know, she disappeared. Her shop disappeared off etsy, stocks depleted, Google+ page inactive. No one could find her. And trust me, many people looked. Her last etsy update had let her customers know that life was hectic for her due to a big move and taking care of her mother, who had been ill. Months passed. People still wondered. Even more months passed. People were paying 100+ dollars for a bottle of her polish. I admittedly payed stupid amounts of money for three of those bottles to complete my Star Wars and Star Trek series. Somehow though I had a feeling she would be back. People questioned why she disappeared.. if NL was all a scam of if something bad had happened to her. But there was love and inspiration in her creations, not just glitter tossed in a bottle. I really believe she loved creating polish that other people loved just as much. She had always been fabulous at customer service and always went the extra mile when I ordered from her. And that is why I was scared that something truly horrible had to have happened for her to just vanish. Although I hoped it was not anything that she couldn't come back from.

I just want to extend my support to Amanda. I can't imagine what she has been through. I send her strength and I truly wish her all of the best. I want to let her know I'll still be a loyal customer. I also want to commend her for her courage. I can't imagine how difficult things were and are for her in this last year and to be able to come back & share her story with our community is commendable. I think most people would have hidden, too overwhelmed to face the reality of the situation. But Amanda didn't, even with everything that has happened, and I think that is something to applaud.

Anyway, I missed her, and I am happy she is back. I can't wait for Nerd Lacquer to be back too.

Another Nerd Lacquer lemming squashed. I think I may be officially done throwing cash at NL auctions/blog sales/LJ sales, etc. It is getting out of control. I only have five left on my wishlist I think but that is probably five too many.

This one is so gorgeous though, I found it on a blog sale along with Event Horizon.

"I think you call me.. Sexy" is from inspired by Doctor Who.. and more specifically.. The TARDIS. It is the perfect Tardis blue nail polish. And if you understand what I mean... then you are awesome. It is jam packed with silver and blue glitter.. and even some micro red glitter. It is incredibly sparkly in the sun.

Since I know I won't ever be able to get my hands on another bottle.. I layered this over Zoya Song, but it is definitely possible to get this baby opaque on her own. This picture was taken with topcoat, in my lightbox.

Ugh it is so gorgeous that I don't even care that it gives me lobster hands. It is so vibrant and sparkly.

Nerd Lacquer Holy Grail Swatch :)

Hi everyone!

First off, sorry for posting sporadically and being so MIA lately. I am still at work up north and it is kicking my ass sideways and silly. SOOOO To make it up to you, I have a swatch of one of my most coveted polishes.. Nerd Lacquer's Holy Grail.

This is one special polish...

Its a LINEAR HOLO muted, silvered seafoam green base with many different sizes of silver holo hex glitter. I'm pretty sure there are some aqua-ish colored micro glitter in there as well. The holo gives it a bit of a light blue cast in the light and in the shade the green is more apparent. This is three coats on its own.. AND OH YEAH IT GLOWS IN THE DARK. ITS GOT EVERYTHING I LIKE. It's gorgeous. I would marry it if that were legal. Freakin' gorgeous. It really is the Holy Grail of polishes.

The first time I tried this I was a little disapointed in the glow-in-the-dark effect. Wasn't very strong. However after some googling I found out that the glow in the dark particles are really heavy and will settle to the bottom of the bottle much like heavier glitter does. So now when I wear this I will keep it upside down for awhile and give it a really good shake before applying. Here is a shot in the dark :)

As you probably know, NLs are hard to come by now since the disappearance of Amanda.. I have accumulated some more of Amanda's creations from ebay, blog sales, and swap groups. They can run for a pretty penny now though :( I hope Amanda is okay.. and I would welcome her back to the polish world with open arms if she did decide to return. Her creations were amazeballs and my interactions with her were nothing short of fantastic with her. I wish her well and hope she is okay, wherever she is.

Nerd Lacquer Hyperspace Bypass Swatch! :)

Hi! Today I am sporting what might be my favourite Nerd Lacquer. It is Hyperspace Bypass! One that is inspired by Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy <3

It is a yellow jelly base with different sizes of golden, black, and yellow glitter along with a holo micro shimmer! I love it. Opaque in two coats and smooth with only one coat of top coat. I actually can't really describe how much I love it so I will let the pictures do the talking!

 It kind of reminds me of lemon pepper sauce!! Hahahaha Definitely not a polish for everyone, it is on the edgy side.. but I love it! For a while now I have been scared to wear it because these polishes aren't being made anymore and I wanted to conserve polish, but now I realize.. if you've got it.. ENJOY IT! Right people!? That is why I bought it so I might as well wear it!

Nerd Lacquer Don't Blink - Swatch

Herrooooo. Incredibly busy at work so this is an archived post hehe.. enjoy!

Today I'm showing off Nerd Lacquer Don't Blink. Another Doctor Who polish!! It is worth mentioning that Nerd Lacquer is not available anymore since the creator Amanda has disappeared from the nail polish scene....  but I like the polish, and I'm wearing it.. so I'm blogging about it. I hope Nerd Lacquer reappears soon. I still have some lemmings I need to squash.

I'm pretty sure Don't Blink is inspired by the scariest episode of Doctor Who ever. The one with the terrifying Weeping Angels. Ahh. Thinking about it even gives me the creeps. I won't say anything else so I don't spoil it on you if you ever want to watch it. 

Anyway, Don't Blink is the exact stone coloured grey of the Weeping Angels, Amanda did an incredible job with this colour. It is the perfect grey. Its full of circular charcoal (almost black) small round glitter and even smaller silvery-white micro glitter. There are some medium and larger silver hexes too. What I really love about this polish is that it manages to be pretty neutral while still being stunningly unique.

Perfect application. Here I am wearing two coats and topcoat. 

I am sending out my wishes that Amanda returns. I want more Nerd Lacquers. And for my follow Doctor Who fans.... whatever you do... Don't Blink.

Nerd Lacquer Beggars Canyon - Swatch

Hi! 

Today I am wearing another Nerd Lacquer. I feel kind of stupid posting these when they aren't available right now. Amanda, the creator behind Nerd Lacquer has, for a lack of a better word, disappeared from the Nail Polish Scene. I really hope she comes back.. her creations were the first indies that I fell in love with, purchased, and they are truely nerd-tastic. 

Even though this polish isn't available right now, I'm blogging about it because it is Fathers Day and the polish is inspired by Star Wars and more obviously Beggars Canyon! My dad introduced me to Star Wars before I could even sit up on my own, and I love him for that. I will forever be grateful to my Dad for making me a Star Wars geek. I watch it almost every night when I try to fall asleep. Almost everything I believe in is because of Star Wars. Yes, I know I have got to tone down my nerdiness sometimes. Anyway, Dad and I will be celebrating the day by watching Star Wars and having some BBQ (I got him a new tank of propane for the special day... God I am such a practical daughter).

Anyway, Beggars canyon is located on the desert planet of Tatooine. The Skywalker's are among a small handful of pilots capable of navigating themselves through a number of the obstacles located in the canyon such as the stone needle! I love Star Wars, I love the Skywalkers, and I love this polish.

Its a dark toned gold base, more of a bronze colour actually.. stuffed with gold and purple micro glitter and medium/larger hexes. Application was great, this is two coats and one coat of SV. That is something I did notice about Nerd Lacquer, they are really smooth with only one coat of topcoat for me.

I love it because it almost manages to be kind of a neutral while still being awesome and blingy. I hope Nerd Lacquer comes back soon :( Anyway, this is my Dad-inspired Manicure for the day. I'm going to go watch Star Wars with my Dad now! :)

Nerd Lacquer All Of TIme And Space - Swatch

Today I am wearing something really special! Nerd Lacquer's All Of Time And Space! Its based on BBC's Doctor Who (longest running sci-fi show in all of history).. more specifically I think it is based on the The Eleventh Doctor since this polish is found in her "Mad Man with a Box" series. I'm a little biased because I love Doctor Who hehehe since I was a kiddie.

The polish iteself is absolutely gorgeous.. a beautiful muted seafoam green base silvered with microglitter and packed full of different sizes of purple and silver hex glitters, also some purple microglitter. The contrasting colours make it super unique and gorgeous, especially for spring. This polish manages to be subtly funky yet ladylike at the same time. Ugh I just love it so much.

This is three coats, gelous, and seche vite. With this combo it is completely smooth and I wore it for three days with no chips and minimal tip wear. I rarely keep a polish on for more than one day, so it says something about how much I love it as well as how well it wears!

Sorry in advance for my dry dry cuticles. I've got some cream on them right now I promise.

I have heard Nerd Lacquer  has disappeared from the nail polish scene :( Any one know any details? I hope she'll be back, her polishes are truly spectacular and ..pardon my nerdiness.. out of this world.
